RUG INFORMATION:
Genuine Semi-Antique Turkish Hereke Durudre rug in excellent condition with 10/10 quality.
This small pure silk Turkish Hereke Durudre is a very rare find and only one of a handful of genuine Durudre pieces that we have been able to find and offer over the years.
The condition of this semi-antique Turkish Hereke Durudre carpet is excellent we estimate it to be about 80 years old. It is a superb piece with a very fine 10/10 quality, meaning that it has 10 knots per centimeter, which comes out to be about 625 kpsi. The Durudre workshop in Hereke was one of the smaller workshop that made a small but very fine pieces and its the type of Hereke rug that many of my passionate clients who are collectors like to add to their personal collection. Like the older K&G and Derin workshops, the Durudre was small in size but their quality spoke volumes. This piece here was originally purchased by a collector who like most displayed it as an artpiece. The colors and design are classic for old pieces of that era and based on our knowledge and years of experience, we date it to around 1940. The floral design with the birds is a classic rendition of the Turkish version of the Tree-of-Life pictorial design of Persian rugs. As is customary with virtually all genuine Durudre Hereke rugs, this piece also features the signature in the top center of the design. Perfectly suited for hanging on a wall or displaying as a decor rug, this fine Hereke is a great reminder of what the past Turkish weaving culture is all about. Simply a stunning piece and the kind of Persian rug that collectors look for.
