RUG INFORMATION:
Chinese Tabriz 60 Raj rug perfect with silk foundation.
This handmade Chinese Tabriz rug is one of several rare Chinese rugs that we are offering with a 60 Raj quality similar to that of the high quality Persian Tabriz rugs.
This piece is new and is part of a collection of rugs that we specifically purchased for a retail client who specializes in these types of carpets. We typically do not offer them as we specialize in the genuine Persian Tabriz rugs, but given the lower price and the fine quality, I can safely recommend this piece.
The feel of this Chinese Tabriz rug is lighter than the Persian Tabriz rugs of the 60 Raj quality, but it is very fine and well made. Whereas the Persian Tabriz rugs are double knotted, the Chinese Tabriz rugs are handtufted, which makes them lighter and also faster to weave, hence the lower price. Design and colors are classic for Tabriz rugs and like in most 60 Raj Tabriz rugs, the foundation is silk in addition to the large amount of silk found in the pile.
IMPORTANT:
Info About Persian vs. Chinese Tabriz Rugs
Due to the large number of inquiries I receive about the different types of Tabriz rugs and the misinformation that are being peddled by online and rug store retailers, I have created my own YouTube channel where I offer factual information for you like the video below that is about the high end Tabriz Rugs. You can see the video if you view this rug page on a laptop or desktop.
If you own or are interested in the Tabriz rugs, please watch this 17 minute video in which I show you Persian Tabriz rugs and the Chinese couterparts. For over 20 years, I have been getting a lot of inquiries about the Tabriz rugs and so I thought I try to show you the difference using actual rugs.
