RUG INFORMATION:
Amazing Hereke Khan Khali rug with stunning 16/16 quality, which translates to about ~1600+ kpsi!!
This is one of the finest Hereke Khan-Khali pieces that we have ever been fortunate to be able to aquire and it is amazing to not see the 16/16 quality in person, but also to see how well preserved this piece is given that it was made around 1960. For those who know and appreciate the Turkish Hereke rugs, this is such a rare find and you will instantly know what it is. The 16/16 quality puts it in the finest category of handmade silk rugs and just imagine of the skills required to weave a rug with 16 knots per centimeter.
Khan-Khali Hereke rugs are in terms of workmanship similar to the Ozipek Hereke rugs and are very sought-after pieces as the workshop also fell victim to the mass importation of Chinese copies. It's remarkable quality was made possible by weavers making the rugs literally while looking through a magnifying glass, which is an old weaving technique that is all but gone. Based on our experience and knowledge, it dates back to around 1960's and since it was kept by the original as a decor and artpiece, it is like new and in flawless condition. The main beige color in the open field is extremely well preserved and as is customary, the full Khan-Khali signature is found in the top center of the rug.
