RUG INFORMATION:
Extremely well preserved old Qum hunting carpet.
This ~80 year old silk Qum pictorial hunting rug is a great example of what the old Persian rugs are so well known for.
Thanks to the fact that it is a wide pictorial Qum silk rug, it was hang on a wall by an owner who obviously treated it like a piece of art. The workmanship and colors are classic of the Qum rugs from between 1920-1940 as thd golds and darker borders were very popular during that time. Unlike the new pure silk Qum rugs, this Qum rug was made with a Turkish knot, which is also typical of Qum rugs from that era. The details of the hunting design with the horse riders and animals is also a classic rendition of the hunting scenes that the pictorial Qum rugs are so well known for.
