RUG INFORMATION:
Artpiece quality Horuz-Oglu Hereke rug with a stunning 12/12 ~900 kpsi quality!!
This rare artpiece quality Horuz-Oglu Hereke rug is one of only a few pieces that we have ever been able to obtain from this small but highly respected Hereke workshop that was also linked to the Ozipek weavers association.
The Horuz-Oglu Hereke workshop was a family-run workshop that produced a small number of fine Hereke rugs until like so many other Hereke weavers they fell victim to the economic and political difficulties that Turkey went through in the early 90's. As we have learned, the original siblings of the Horuz-Oglu workshop were trained and worked for the Ozipek workshops until they decided to went their own ways in the 1950's. They passed their skills and passion down to their kids like to it was customary in many rug weaving cultures.
This Horuz-Oglu Hereke is truly a unique and sought-after piece for those who appreciate the fine Turkish rugs and a great example of what the Hereke rugs are famous for. With an stunning 12/12 quality and a very detailed and deliberate attention to detail, it is simple a stunning artpiece and even though it is over 50 years old, it is in excellent condition as it was displayed as an artpiece by a collector. In the top center is the Horuz-Oglu signature and you can also see the Hereke signature in the upper right part of the rug.
