RUG INFORMATION:
Artpiece quality Semi-Antique Ozipek Hereke rug with rare pictorial design and stunning 1200 kpsi!!
This rare artpiece quality Ozipek Hereke rug is unique in so many ways that it is one of the most remarkable carpets we have ever found amongst Turkish silk rugs.
First of all, this is a genuine Ozipek Hereke rug with a 12/12 quality ~1200 kpsi, which makes it an extremely fine piece even amongst our selection of Hereke Ozipek rugs. The remarkable quality is made possible by weavers making the rugs literally while looking through a magnifying glass, which is an old weaving technique that is all but gone. It is simply remarkable that weavers could make such rugs back in the 60's. Unfortunately, the Ozipek manufacturer was one of several Hereke weavers that fell victim to the cheaper Chinese made imitation Hereke rugs that flooded the Turkish markets and the Ozipek shops are all but gone now.
This is a truly unique and sought-after piece for those who appreciate the fine Turkish rugs and a great example of what the Hereke rugs are famous for. With an amazing 1200 kpsi, it is simple a stunning artpiece and even though it is over 50 years old, it is in excellent condition as it was displayed as an artpiece by a collector and never walked on. In the top center is the unique signature, which points to its origin as Ozipek weavers typically shunned the traditional Hereke signature and instead added their name.
