Gorgeous 10/10 Hereke rug with Metal fibers in design
This small Hereke rug is one of a handful of pieces that feature gold colored metal in its pile and. Not only is this Hereke rug in excellent condition and an absolute masterpiece, but some of the areas in the rug feature the Soof metal foundation as you can see in some of the close-ups.
Design and workmanship are everything the Hereke rugs are known for and as is common in some of the more unique Hereke carpets, this piece has areas where the Kelim is left exposed and a golden colored threat is added to the foundation. This is to allow the design to look as if it is floating on the rug and gives the pattern an in-depth look and feel. The Hereke carpets are known for making these type of rare rugs and virtually all collectors tend to hang them on walls as wallart or display them as decor items in their homes or offices. If you look closely, you will see that the left half of the Hereke rug is also a mirror reflection of the right side, which is also a trademark unique to Hereke rugs so if you were to fold the rug in half, both halves would be a perfect match. The signature which is typical for Hereke rugs is in the top left corner.
The condition of this 10/10 Hereke is excellent and based on our estimate it was made around 1980 based on the choice of colors and features in the design. The dark red, blue and gold colors became very popular in the late 70's and were often added to the designs for about 10 years. It appears to be used as a decor rug only and there are no damaged or worn out areas that required any repairs. Simply a stunning piece and the kind of Persian rug that collectors look for.

Info About REAL vs. FAKE Hereke Rugs

Due to the large number of inquiries I receive about genuine and fake Hereke rugs and the misinformation that are being peddled by online and rug store retailers, I have created my own YouTube channel where I offer factual information for you like the video below that is about Hereke Silk Rugs. You can see the video if you view this rug page on a laptop or desktop.

Learn about Turkish vs. Chinese Hereke Rugs

If you own or are interested in silk Hereke rugs, please watch this video in which I show you real Turkish silk Hereke rugs and the Chinese silk couterparts that are often sold as genuine Turkish rugs. For over 20 years, I have been getting a lot of inquiries about the Hereke rugs and so many have been scammed by the rug dealers in Turkey that I thought I try to show you the difference using actual rugs.

Topic #2: Differences in prices and Signatures!! Learn the truth about them and see an actual example of a signature that was added to a Chinese copy to make it look like a Turkish piece
