Semi-Antique Hereke rug with Metal fibers in design
This rare metal Hereke rug is one of a handful of pieces that we purchased from an old friend of the family who used to deal in old Hereke rugs. Not only is this Hereke rug in excellent condition and an absolute masterpiece, but the pile in the rug feature the Soof metal foundation as you can see in some of the close-ups.
Design and workmanship are everything the Hereke rugs are known for and as is common in some of the more unique Hereke carpets, this piece has areas where the Kelim is left exposed and a golden colored threat is added to the foundation. This is to allow the design to look as if it is floating on the rug and gives the pattern an in-depth look and feel.
The condition of this semi-antique Hereke is excellent and based on our estimate it is about 65 years old. It appears to be used as a decor rug only and there are no damaged or worn out areas that required any repairs. Simply a stunning piece and the kind of Persian rug that collectors look for.
