RUG INFORMATION:
Genuine Sarab-Tabriz Persian rug and a great example of the popular Mahi design with the quality you would expect from the old-school Sarab Persian rug. Very well made and even though it looks like an old Persian rug, it is actually new and a perfect example of the Sarab rugs are famous for. This geometric Herati Mahi design is considered by many to be the inspiration of the more common Mahi design in Tabriz rugs and the Herati version of the Bidjar rugs.
Sarab is a small village outside of Tabriz that many consider to be the birthplace of the Mahi design. One of the trademarks of the Sarab Mahi rugs is the inclusion of the orange color and the type of wool, which are both tell-tell signs for those who are knowledgeable about the Sarab rugs. Many rug dealers also lump the Sarab rugs with the Mahi design with the Tabriz rugs and label the others as Ardabil.
