RUG INFORMATION:
Rare large Chinese made Hereke Silk rug.
This handmade pure silk Chinese Hereke rug is one of several rare Hereke rugs that we are offering and it is everything that the Hereke rugs are known for, except that it is made in China. Like most genuine Turkish Hereke rugs, it is pure silk and features dark blue and light colors. The Turkish Hereke rugs are very sought-after pieces on par as the Persian Qum rugs, but unfortunately due to an huge influx of cheaper Chinese silk carpets that look and feel very similar to the genuine Turkish Hereke rugs, the production of the real Hereke rugs has all but stopped. In the video below, I will explain it all to you and much more.
This piece is new and was purchased by us like many others have done during a holiday in Turkey. Knowing enough about the differences between the real Turkish Hereke rugs and their imported Chinese counterparts, we were able to get this piece at a reasonable price as the genuine Turkish Hereke pieces in this size would be many times more expensive. This Chinese Hereke rug is a perfect example of the type of silk rug that has decimated the Turkish silk rug production. Starting in the late 1980's, some of the Turkish rug stores started to import Chinese handmade fine silk rugs and sell them as genuine Turkish Hereke rugs to tourists who flooded the bazaars. This is a problem what got worse as more and more cruise ships stopped in Turkey.
Please note that for its price and quality, this piece is absolutely excellent and as a Persian rug fan, I have absolutely no problems recommending it. However, I want to be clear that even though I could offer it as a Turkish Hereke rug, it is in fact a Chinese imitation and as a result, the price is a fraction of what a real Turkish Hereke would be selling for.
Due to the large number of calls and emails that I have received from folks over the past 20 years, who purchased Hereke rugs during vacations in Turkey and later learned that the rugs they have are not genuine Turkish pieces, I have made the video that you can see below and whether you already own or are interested in the Hereke rugs, please watch the video as I will be sharing a few tips and info.

IMPORTANT:
Info About REAL vs. FAKE Hereke Rugs

Due to the large number of inquiries I receive about genuine and fake Hereke rugs and the misinformation that are being peddled by online and rug store retailers, I have created my own YouTube channel where I offer factual information for you like the video below that is about Hereke Silk Rugs. You can see the video if you view this rug page on a laptop or desktop.

Important Tips about Hereke Carpets

If you own or are interested in silk Hereke rugs, please watch this 17 minute video in which I show you real Turkish silk Hereke rugs and the Chinese silk couterparts that are often sold as genuine Turkish rugs. For over 20 years, I have been getting a lot of inquiries about the Hereke rugs and so many have been scammed by the rug dealers in Turkey that I thought I try to show you the difference using actual rugs.
