RUG INFORMATION:
Genuine Dardashti masterpiece quality Isfahan rug with a silk foundation and signature.
A PERSIAN RUG FAN'S DREAM COME TRUE!!
This Isfahan rug is a genuine and signed older Dardashti masterpiece and if you are a fellow passionate Persian rug fan, this is of of those rugs that everyone rug geek like myself would love to hold in their hands.
The Dardashti Isfahan rugs are famous for the kurkwool being woven as highlights and the silk being the main background material and here is an older piece that was part of a private collection and is virtually unrestored and in excellent condition. This Isfahan rug is an early example of the Dardashti workshop and dates to around 1950. It was part of a collection of several Dardashti Isfahan rugs and the oldest one. The others you see in our gallery are from the sons of the grandweaver.
If for example you look at the video below or the close-up pictures, you can see see similarities between the older Nain and Isfahan rugs in the colors and design of this piece. The Boteh design features patterns that are classic of the era and it is simply a great example of what the high end Isfahan rugs of that era were all about...
It is the novelty and workmanship of the Dardashti workshop that many rug collectors cherish their rugs and it is often said in the Persian rug circles that the Dardashti would be amongst the most famous Isfahan weavers had it not been for the family being small. Had the Dardashti family had as many off-springs as the Seirafians or had a bigger workshop, there is no doubt that their rugs and reputation would be far bigger than what it is. With about 600 kpsi and truly stunning attention to detail, this piece is simply amazing to look at and the open design without the large medaillion is perfect for an open area as a decor rug.
