Gonbad Persian rugs are by far one of the most popular Persian carpets that I offer and they tend to sell within a very short time. For example, I had 80 Gonbad Persian rugs on hand in 2010 when the old embargo first started and by 2014 I had sold all but 3 of them. Due to the difficulty in making the symmetric design, most weavers do not have the skills or desire to make Persian rugs with the Gonbad design and so the supply is always a bit limited. This is why my family now also offers silk Gonbad rugs made for us in India. These are Indian Gonbad rugs made very much like the Kashmir rugs and are similar in quality to the 50 Raj Tabriz rugs I offer, but with a silk pile instead of the standard wool.
