Pure silk Qom Persian carpet with a hunting scene design, which is a classic example of Qom picture oriental rug. Amongst the finest carpets are the Qom Persian rugs and I am very particular about the ones that I offer. My pictorial Oriental carpets have been very popular with my clients and they can vary from very small rugs to very large pieces. All genuine Qom Oriental rugs are made using real silk and to find a Qom Persian carpet hanging on a wall or even framed is quiet common. Large round Tabriz Persian rugs with a metal foundation, which is very rare in Oriental carpets. These metal round Persian carpets are among my most popular Oriental rugs and they often sell within a few short weeks or months. Designed to be showpieces, Tabriz Persian rugs like this oriental carpet will hold their value and I often sell them to other oriental rug sellers. Star-shaped Tabriz Persian carpet and one of my most unusual oriental rugs in my collection. Due to my family's direct connection with many of the Persian rug weavers in Tabriz, I am able to offer rare oriental carpets like this one, which are so hard to find. These type of Persian carpets are extremely hard to make and as a result most oriental rug weavers will not even attempt to make them. Please feel free to look at other sites and stores and see for yourself just how rare Persian carpets like this Tabriz oriental rug is. Square Nain Persian rug in a large size, which is also a bit rare for oriental carpets. All of my Nain carpets are extremely fine and most have well over 500 kpsi. The high quality of this type of Nain rug is called 6-Lah, which refers to the numbers of fibers that make up one fringe in the Persian carpet. Although these are very fine Persian carpets, they are designed to be showpieces and also very durable.

Sample of Round Persian rug Designs,

Tabriz rugs, Nain Rugs, Qom Rugs

Dear visitor,

I have added these pages to my website to show you some of the common designs in Persian rugs.

Another very popular design in Persian rugs are round rugs and this section is devoted to several types of different designs. Round Persian rugs are a fairly new phenomenon and they have become much more common in the last 20 years or so. However, they are still among the more unique Persian rugs due to the fact that most weavers do not have the skills to make these type of rugs. If you like to see a round rug being made, click on the Persian rug Information page on the left and you will see a round Tabriz rug being made.
Weaving a round rug is extremely difficult and only a small percentage of weavers have mastered this skill. As a result, round rugs tend to be be of a high end quality and they are more expensive than ordinary Persian rugs with one notable exception being the round Nain rugs. The Nain rugs are pretty much the only type of Persian rugs where low quality rugs are more common than the high quality pieces and finding a high end 6-Lah in a round shape is extremely rare. On the other hand, round Qom rugs and Tabriz rugs are almost always of a high end quality and it is virtually impossible to find them with a low quality.
Below you will several examples from my past and current collection and if you like to read more about any specific piece, just move your mouse over one of the pictures and hold it still for a second.  A description will pop up and you can read more about it.

Pure Silk 7' round Qom rug, which is a very rare find. Qom rugs are rarely ever made in a round shape and this one was the largest round rug that I have been able to get from Qom so far.A round Tabriz rug featuring the traditional Gombad design. This 8' Tabriz rug is a great example of what a high end Gombad Persian rug should look like and the colors are also a bit unique. To read more about the Gombad design and to see other round Tabriz rugs with this and a similar variation, make sure to click on the Gombad section below. This Nain rug is an 8' round 9-lah with a very uninque design. As stated above, Nain rugs are pretty much the only type of Persian rugs, where the majority of round rugs are of a lower quality. In fact, this Nain rug is to be considered a low-high end Persian rug and it's about a fine as most round Nain rugs get.One of rarest round rugs is this 10' Tabriz rug with a silk foundation. Only about 5% of all Persian rugs are round and these large round pieces are extremely rare. Made with a silk foundation and a very unique design and color combination, this 60 raj Tabriz rug is a great example of what a high end Persian round rug should look and feel like.

As you can see in the examples, round Persian rugs typically feature a medallion, but the overall design can vary greatly with each rug. The two reasons why many retailers will typically not offer these type of rugs is that they are much more expensive than ordinary Persian rugs and therefore less profitable and also because they are less available. Most of the high end round rugs are made in Tabriz and I am fortunate to have the direct family contact that allow me to purchase these rare pieces. Some rugs, like the metal and Mahi rugs, are in fact so extremely rare that other retailers will often buy them from me and then turn around and sell them for much more to their own clients. Below are more example of round Persian rugs and I have also added a couple of oval Persian rugs, since they are even more rare and are often made by the same weavers as the round rugs. Oval Persian rugs are so rare that you rarely ever find them and they are very unusual. Just like the round rugs, the oval rugs are also typically made in Tabriz and I have included samples below. Just to give you an example, the oval twin rugs for purchased by a retailer the same day that I had received them and were then offered at their store for resale. Feel free to look around stores and websites and see for yourself just how rare these rugs are.

Round Persian Tabriz rug with a metal foundation. Amongst the most valuable and most unusual Persian rugs are the metal rugs, which are most often found in Tabriz rugs. This 7' round rug was one of several metal rugs that I have featured and I would suggest that you look at my metal rug section for more information about these Persian rugs. A medium sized Persian Qom rug, which I offered a few years ago. Round pure silk Qom rugs are extremely rare and tend to be very popular with my clients. The colors and design tend to be somewhat similar and I hope to be able to offer more Persian round Qom rugs in the future. This round Tabriz rug features a Mahi design and you can also see it in my favorite's section. It was one of my first round Mahi Tabriz rugs and it is such a rare design in round rugs, that I am virtually the only one who offers it. Feel free to look around for round Persian rugs and you will see just how rare these fine round Tabriz rugs are. Another variation of the round Mahi rug design is featured in this large Persian Tabriz rug and it is also a very high quality 50 raj rug. The round Mahi and other round Tabriz rugs are among my most popular rugs and I always try to get as many as I can since they tend to sell very fast. One of the most unusual Persian rugs in this large oval Tabriz rug, which is also one of my quickest selling rugs. It was part of my collection for a whole 4 hours before it was sold. Oval Tabriz rugs are the most common oval rugs and they often feature a kelim around the edges to keep them in shape.. Lastly, I want to share with you this twin oval rug set, which also sold very fast. As mentioned before, oval Persian rugs are extremely rare and even though my family has direct contacts with many weavers, it is very hard to find these Persian oval rugs. Twin rugs are even more rare and this set was only my second time that I was able to offer twin oval rugs.

I hope that you have enjoyed this article about the round and oval Persian rugs and feel free to look at my other featured rug designs and my website.  As always, I enjoy hearing my visitor's thoughts and experiences, so drop me a line or two if you like.

Take care,
