Featured Oriental Rug Design
"Metal Tabriz Rugs"

Round metal Persian rugs rugs are also very rare and it is thanks to my direct family contacts with the carpet weavers in Tabriz that I am able to offer some of these rare tpye of oriental rugs. These Tabriz carpets are so rare that they are often purchased by retailers who then turn around and sell them for many times more. Close-up picture of a round Tabriz Persian carpet with the gold colored metal foundation. In addition to being a very rare oriental rug, this Tabriz carpet also features a 60 raj silk foundation, which together with the metal makes for a truly high end Persian rug. You can see in the picture how the metal is added to the silk to make the whole Persian carpet shine.
Among the most unusual and rarely ever seen Oriental rug designs are the Metal rugs , which also looks and feels very different from all other types of oriental rugs. Metal rugs are made with very small gold or silver colored fibers that are added to the foundation to give the Oriental rugs a shiny back ground. Unlike all other oriental rugs, the metal rugs also do not have a complete pile and this is done on purpose to allow the metal foundation to surround the pile and give it a very dramatic look. As you can see in the close-up above, the metal fibers in these oriental rugs are extremely fine and these oriental carpets are very elegant rugs like the pure silk Qom rugs, designed for formal or low traffic rooms.

Metal Tabriz Oriental Rug Showcase

Square Oriental rugs sample #12. Square oriental rugs like this large Tabriz Mahi rug are always a bit of a challenge to find. Like this Tabriz rug, most square oriental rugs tend to have a large center medallion and a matching border pattern. Square Oriental rugs sample #13. Square oriental rug with a very high quality workmanship and a very unique design. As with all of my oriental rugs, this Tabriz rug is a genuine handmade rug made in Iran.

As I have stated above, all of the Oriental rugs that I offer are genuine and handmade and I offer high quality oriental carpets.
Two examples are these square sized Tabriz Oriental rugs that I sold a while back.  Even though Tabriz rugs come in a variety of qualities, I only offer the genuine high end ones, meaning that they start at around 350 kpsi and are made of lamb wool and silk. These types of Tabriz Oriental rugs are also referred to as 50 raj quality pieces and I also offer some higher quality ones.  Unlike most rug stores, that sell 90% junk and only 10% of any speak able quality, all oriental rugs in my website are high end pieces, no exceptions!

Another example of the types of Oriental carpets that I offer are these two pure silk handmade Oriental rugs from the city of Qom.  Like all of the oriental rugs that I offer, these two pieces are genuine handmade rugs made in Iran, which is where most real oriental rugs are made. There are also other countries that make oriental rugs, but the truly authentic rugs are made in Iran and sold all around the world.  In the last 20 years, a number of other countries have started to copy the designs of the Iranian Oriental rugs and have mass produced them. This is why you need to be very careful when you consider buying a high end oriental rug and make sure that the seller is knowledgeable and only deals in genuine rugs.

Round oriental rugs sample #11. Pure silk round Qom oriental rugs are very rare and are designed to be showpieces. Most of my clients will place these high end silk oriental rugs in formal areas and they are often hang on walls.Oriental rugs #4. Pure silk pictorial Qom oriental rug with a very high quality. High end oriental rugs like this Qom rug tend to have over 700 kpsi and all of the Qom oriental rugs I offer are like this Qom rug with well over 700 kpsi.

Oriental rug #1.Twin Oriental rugs made from fine wool and silk. Oriental rugs are rarely ever made as twin rugs and are very sought after.

Showcase #1: Twin Oriental Rugs
One of the most unusual types of oriental rugs are the twin Tabriz rugs like the one you see to the left.  Since all genuine oriental rugs are always handmade, it is very rare to find identical twin rug sets and there are only a few types of twin oriental rugs that are typically made.  The most common type of twin rugs are made in the city of Tabriz and the rugs are almost always of a fine quality and workmanship. Weaving twin rugs is something only a few oriental rug weavers know how to do due to the difficulty in producing identical rugs and they tend to be very sought-after.  Many of my clients look for twin sets for their bedrooms or other areas of their homes where these types of oriental rugs are needed.

Oval oriental rugs sample #8. Made from very fine wool and silk, this high quality Tabriz oriental rug is a great example of what rare oriental rugs should look and feel like.

Showcase #2: Oval Oriental Rugs
Another example of the type of oriental rugs that I look for is this high end oval oriental rug from Tabriz. As with all of the oriental rugs that you see in my website, this one is also handmade of a very fine quality, but it is the oval shape that sets it apart from virtually all other oriental carpets.  Uniquely shaped oriental rugs like this oval Tabriz rugs are very hard to find due to their difficulty in weaving and because they are not very popular. Unlike most oriental rug businesses, I actually look for these types of oriental rugs out of my personal passion for the unusual and because I like to offer rugs that others can't or won't offer.  I constantly receive e-mails from folks who comment about oriental rugs that they have never seen before in any other store or website and to me it's a tremendous compliment and joy.

Round oriental rugs sample #11. Pure silk round Qom oriental rugs are very rare and are designed to be showpieces. Most of my clients will place these high end silk oriental rugs in formal areas and they are often hang on walls.

Showcase #3: Pure Silk Oriental Rugs
One of finest types of oriental rugs are the handmade pure silk Qom rugs and among the best known are the Qom oriental rugs.  Even though there are also other types of pure silk oriental rugs made in China, India, and Pakistan, it is the genuine Qom oriental rugs that set the benchmark for all others.  This is why it is so important to make sure that you are dealing with a respectable rug dealer, since many Qom rugs are being copied by others and then sold as authentic Qom oriental rugs.
I always recommend to place them in low traffic areas or formal settings, where these rugs are truly become a focal point.  Many of my clients also like to hang them on walls and it is also quiet common to see these pure silk oriental rugs framed in picture frames.

Round Oriental rugs sample #9. This large round Naiin oriental rug features a very high quality and also has an equally unique design. Round Oriental rugs like this piece are centerpieces and are often the focal point of any room.

Showcase #4: Nain 6-Lah Oriental Rugs
Lastly, I like to briefly discuss a certain type of Oriental rug that you rarely see in stores and even less often in websites.  The oriental rug I am referring to is the 6-Lah Nain rug and it is one of the finest wool based oriental rugs available.
As with many other types of Oriental rugs, the Nain rugs come in various qualities, from the low ones with about 80 kpsi to the super high end 3-Lah with about 800-900 kpsi. While the vast majority of Nain rugs are in the 80-150 kpsi range, there are also the 6-Lah pieces which have between 400-600 kpsi.  All of the Nain rugs that I offer have the 6-Lah quality and they are extremely fine and elegant oriental rugs.
