Notes: The design is called "Gonbad or Gombardeh" and is
one of the most sought after modern designs in Persian rugs.
Extremely popular with my client's, these pieces are meant to be
showpieces and also extremely durable. Thanks to my family's
connections with the weavers in Tabriz, I am always able to find new
Gonbad Tabriz rugs and even though the design is almost the same in
all of the dome shaped rugs, the colors and workmanship can greatly
vary. The weaver, who made this rug, added his signature to the ends
of the rug, which is called a kelim. This feature is a rarity and is
almost only found in high end Persian rugs only.
