Notes: The geometric design is called "Heriz" and
is very rare in high end Tabriz rugs. Heriz rugs are made not
too far from Tabriz and are of a much lower quality. Years ago,
weavers in Tabriz started to add the Heriz design to the Tabriz rugs
and this rug is great example of a fine Tabriz rug with this
pattern. There are plenty of silk highlights and the weaver was kind
enough to add a kelim at the end of the rug with some detailed
artwork and his signature.
