Notes: This design is a variation of the
Gombardeh pattern and is called "Gombad Faraji". Thanks to my family
contacts, I have been able to get a few of these Tabriz rugs now
mainly in this size, but they all sell very quickly. It's my third
one so far this year and by judging my clients reactions, they are
absolutely stunning. When I got my second one in Aril of 2006, I
was wise enough to request more from the weaver and I hope to have
some in other sizes as well. This design, which is a variation of
the popular "Gombardeh" dome shaped pattern, used to be common in
small rugs, and now we are having one heck of a time just finding
any at all. It takes a very skilled weaver to make these rugs and
the design has to be perfectly geometric or else the rug is
worthless. My mom has a 70raj Tabriz rug with this very same design
in her living room, and it's definitely one of my personal favorite
designs. This dome shaped design is called "Gombardeh Faraji", after
a well known rug weaving family in Tabriz, who first created this
pattern and have since mastered it. If you look at my large round
section, you will find several round ones with this design, which
are much more common, although they are also rare. Also, the weaver
was kind enough to add his signature, which is a nice little extra.
