Notes: This very fine Qom rug features the ever so popular variation of the "Gonbad" design with the tear drop pattern, which is among my most requested of all designs. Due to the difficulty in making this geometric design, most weavers won't even dare to make it and finding these Gonbad rugs is always a challenge in itself. This piece is very well made and as you can see in the close-ups, the detailed workmanship is truly outstanding. Many of my clients like to hang these small silk rugs, but they are also perfectly fine for formal areas and it is definitely a showpiece rug. As with all of these Gonbad Qom rugs, I would be surprised if it stays with me for too long and if you look at my other sections, you will typically find a few other types of rugs with this unique design.
