Notes: This round Mahi rug comes from the
Pirouzian family, who are among the best known and respected rug weavers in
Tabriz. Their specialty is in the Mahi rugs and they often like to experiment
with different colors and design combinations. For this piece, the weavers chose
a very light mint green color, which is the first I have ever seen in a Tabriz
rug like this one. In addition, the Pirouzian Mahi rugs often feature a lot of
silk highlights that are not present in other Mahi rugs. If you look at the
second picture right underneath the signature, you will notice the yellow fields
that surround the colors, which is all done in silk.
