Notes: This Tabriz rug features a foundation made
of cotton and a gold colored metal. As a result, only 50% of the rug
has a pile with the idea being that the kurkwool will be surrounded
by the metal foundation. By leaving the foundation exposed in many
areas, the rug appears to have several layers and it's very
valuable. These Tabriz rugs are truly collector pieces and are to be
treated as such. The quality is very high and they are perfectly
fine to walk on, but ideal you would place them in a room like a
formal living room or a wall. In addition, there are large areas of
the pile completely made of silk. If you look at the last picture,
you can see how the metal in added and all the bright colors are the
silk highlights (lots of them). This is only the second time
that I was able to get a 7x5 metal piece in all these years and they
are typically either round or much larger.
