Quality Service Uniqueness Value
Room size Persian Tabriz rug with a classical Gonbad or Gonbardeh design, which refers to the dome shaped design of the oriental carpet. This Persian carpet design is typically found in large oriental carpets and is a specialty of Tabriz rugs, even though it is sometimes found in other types of Persian carpets. It is one of the more modern design and very popular with my clients, who are looking for a durable showpiece Persian rug. Large room sized Nain Persian rug with a very unique design and very traditional Nain carpet colors. Nain rugs are made near and in the city of Isfahan and they come in various types of quality like most other Persian carpets. The Nain rugs that I feature are made of a very high quality and to have over 600 kpsi is not unusual. To begin with, all of my Nain oriental carpets are 6-lah quality and I always look for unique designs like this one. Another very unusual Persian carpet is this octagon Tabriz rug with a silk foundation and a 60 raj quality. Due to my personal passion for rare and unique oriental carpets, I always try to offer rugs that are different from what most other retailers sell in their stores. This Tabriz carpet was actually a twin set, but due to the large size I sold both carpets seperately. Finding octagon shaped Persian rugs is extremely rare and this twin set were the first ones that I have offered so far. Large square pure silk Qom Persian rug with a design featuring many different Oriental carpets. Square oriental rugs are rare and to round pure silk Persian carpets are extremely hard to find and are very valueable. This type of a Qom Persian rug often has over 700 kpsi and it made of the finest pure silk. Many of my clients like to buy the Qom oriental carpets for floors, but are also used for hanging on walls.

Showcase of "Round" Persian Rugs

Dear Visitor,
I have added these pages to my website to show you some of the common designs in Persian rugs.
Another very popular design in Persian rugs are round rugs and this section is devoted to several types of different designs. Round Persian rugs are a fairly new phenomenon and they have become much more common in the last 20 years or so. However, they are still among the more unique Persian rugs due to the fact that most weavers do not have the skills to make these type of rugs. If you like to see a round rug being made, click on the Persian rug Information page on the left and you will see a round Tabriz rug being made.
Weaving a round rug is extremely difficult and only a small percentage of weavers have mastered this skill. As a result, round rugs tend to be be of a high end quality and they are more expensive than ordinary Persian rugs with one notable exception being the round Nain rugs. The Nain rugs are pretty much the only type of Persian rugs where low quality rugs are more common than the high quality pieces and finding a high end 6-Lah in a round shape is extremely rare. On the other hand, round Qom rugs and Tabriz rugs are almost always of a high end quality and it is virtually impossible to find them with a low quality.
Below you will several examples from my past and current collection and if you like to read more about any specific piece, just move your mouse over one of the pictures and hold it still for a second.  A description will pop up and you can read more about it.

Large round pure silk Qom Persian rug with a geometric design called Gombad or Gombardeh. Round Persian rugs are rare and to round pure silk oriental carpets are extremely hard to find and are very valueable. This type of a Qom Persian rug often has over 700 kpsi and it made of the finest pure silk making it one of the most valuable oriental carpets. Many of my clients like to buy the Qom oriental rugs for floors, but are also used for hanging on walls. Large round Tabriz oriental rug with a geometric design called Gombad or Gombardeh, which is among my most popular designs in Persian carpets. It is thanks to my family connections with many of the weavers in Tabriz that I am able to even get these type of Persian rugs and they are very fine and unique Tabriz carpets. Many of the oriental carpets have sold very quickly, and even though the vast majority of large round Persian rugs are around 7' in diameter, I am still able to offer some like this larger 8' Tabriz oriental carpet and I have even offered some in the 10' range as well, which are some of the most spectacular Persian rugs you will ever see. One of most unique Nain Persian rugs is this large round Nain oriental carpet with a rare design and a 9Lah quality. Round Nain rugs are very hard to find and the high end Nain carpets are rarely ever round. In fact, this is the first time that I was able to find a decent round Nain in this large size and I was also taken back by the unique design. Unfortunately, I have not been able to offer more of these rare round oriental rugs, but I still hope to be able to offer more unique Nain carpets in the years to come. 10' round Tabriz Persian rug with a silk foundation and among the finest round oriental carpets that I have offered so far. Designed to be very durable and yet very luxurious, these Tabriz have large amount of silk added to their pile as well as a silk foundation, so they are definite showpieces. Typically, round oriental rugs are not this large and to find round and oval carpets in this 8-10 foot size can be difficult. Another unique feature of this Tabriz carpet is the color combination, which brings out the silk highlights.

As you can see in the examples, round Persian rugs typically feature a medallion, but the overall design can vary greatly with each rug. The two reasons why many retailers will typically not offer these type of rugs is that they are much more expensive than ordinary Persian rugs and therefore less profitable and also because they are less available. Most of the high end round rugs are made in Tabriz and I am fortunate to have the direct family contact that allow me to purchase these rare pieces. Some rugs, like the metal and Mahi rugs, are in fact so extremely rare that other retailers will often buy them from me and then turn around and sell them for much more to their own clients. Below are more example of round Persian rugs and feel free to look around stores and websites and see for yourself just how rare these rugs are.

Large round Tabriz Persian rug with a metal foundation making it one of the most unusual design in oriental carpets. Tabriz metal Persian rugs are among my most popular oriental carpets and they sell very fast. In fact, many of these rare round Persian rugs have been sold to other oriental carpet retailers, who then turn around and sell them for three to four times the purchase price. These oriental rugs are truly showpieces and are to be treated as such. Persian carpets #9. Round pure silk Qom Persian carpets like this piece are extremely hard to find and very valuable. Among the highest quality Persian carpets are the Qum Persian carpets made of pure silk and many are placed in formal rooms or hang on walls. One of my most popular designs in round Persian rugs is the Tabriz Mahi design and this particular Mahi carpet features a pattern that is very unusual and hard to find. Designed for high traffic areas, these Tabriz Mahi oriental carpets will last a lifetime and are also great as showpieces due to their high quality and lots of silk highlights.
